My Top 10 Albums Of The Year 2023

 10) The Chemical Brothers - For That Beautiful Feeling I'm not going to pretend I'm a massive Chemical Brothers fan because I'm not. When they went "mainstream" a few years back with Galvanise I had a little flutter with them but really since then nothing. I'm always looking for new music and when I saw this had come out I gave it a go. I was on a whole Fred Again vibe after seeing him live and needed some house/electronic music in my life. This is a completely uncomplicated record. They don't try and push any new boundaries here this is just a pure non commercial house/techno record that I imagine hasn't had much radio play but hits in all the right spots for me.  9) The Murder Capital - Gigi's Recovery  I wasn't sure on this album for ages. I heard lots of good things about it but every time I listened to it I just didn't get it. On Wikipedia the bands genre is Post Punk which I don't agree with and maybe that's what was throwing...

Liam Gallagher and John Squire - Just Another Rainbow

I search the skyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! The man just loves to properly annunciate his words doesn't he?   The Christmas present that none of us knew we needed came in late December when it was announced that Liam Gallagher and John Squire would be releasing music together in 2024. Just Another Rainbow was released today (Jan 5th) with the promise of a album later in the year and possibly some tour dates. I'm sure it's more likely that Squire will join LG for his Defiantly Maybe gigs later in the year.  This collaboration excited me. Mainly because I'm bored to tears of Liam's solo stuff and let's face it The Stone Roses are dead (or until they're skint again) and this was something new, exciting and something that I didn't see coming. One of the greatest front men of a generation backed by arguably the most talented British guitarists since Marr?  Lyrically this song is in the gutter. I'm assuming *Liam wrote it? I can't fi...

Wolforna - Amandolyn/Something Missing

"My dear Anarchy, please blow my life to smithereens " a poignant opening lyric if there ever was one. Bradford rockers Wolforna are back fresh from last summers festival circuit with not one but two singles.   Amandolyn a punchy rock Armageddon of heavy guitars, bellowing drums and self doubting lyrics takes us on a journey into a frustrated mind of a artist who's struggling to express themselves in a way that so many of us have experienced before. "My twisted lust for perfection just has a hold on me" is anything artistically we do ever really good enough or are we always chasing the impossible that's in our head? It's a good question and one I can't answer but it's seems like these guys have found a remedy as the song crescendos into huge guitars we hear "The pieces reconnect, I've got my own way" Something Missing is a soul searching track were we're told to "stop wasting time that's all that matters" It'...
