Civic Green - Nowhere Close

There's nothing better then stumbling across a band you've never heard of before, quickly searching them in your music app and finding a back catalogue of absolute bangers. Twitter is a goldmine of bands like Civic Green who use social media effectively to get their stuff out into the world and that's why we should embrace #newmusicfriday and get these guys into peoples ear drums. The four piece indie rockers seem to have mastered the art of originality within their songs, something that not all bands can achieve, especially ones from Yorkshire as that particular part of the country seems a hot bed for cool bands and obvious comparisons are made. City Streets and There Is Always A Light are both excellent and well worth a listen.

New single Nowhere Close released Feb 18th is a indie, rhythmic belter. Lyrically this feels thought provoking about someone who perhaps isn't happy at where they are in life or perhaps where they physically are.. "Watching the circles turn to squares, watching the days turn into years, walking around this broken town, wondering how we'll make it out?" echo's as we reach crescendo into a chorus that begins to spurs optimism and hope. "Maybe the stars can shine today?"

There's power here and I'm intrigued to find the premise of these lyrics that are set ablaze by the riffy guitar throughout.  Civic Green are defiantly a band to keep a eye on as I genuinely think these guys are good enough to make a dent in the music scene this year. You can follow them on Twitter @civic_green and you can stream Nowhere Close from all the usual streaming services from Feb 18th.

All the best with the new single lads.
